According to claims in the Swedish media, AIK are again showing an interest in Leeds United forward Marcus Antonsson.
The 26-year-old joined Leeds United just over 12 months ago, but struggled to get games for the Championship side during his debut season.
Fotboll Direkt have reported a number of top flight Swedish clubs are monitoring the situation with Antonsson, with one of those being AIK. The club’s sporting director Björn Wesström was quizzed about signing the Leeds United player this summer, but the Swede was coy in his answer:
“As I have always said since I started this job. I do not comment on information about players at other clubs. What I can say is that we are always looking for reinforcements. There are opportunities in the transfer window, and I do not dismiss anyone.”
It’s been claimed Antonsson will only decide on whether to return to his home country once he knows his role at Leeds United next season. The Championship side recently signed Caleb Ekuban from Hellas Verona, but Antonsson has responded to the increase in competition with a couple of goals during preseason.
IFK Norrköping, Hammarby, IFK Göteborg, Kalmar and Malmo are also reported to be interested in the Leeds United attacker.
