The Argentine media is finding it hard to believe that Giovani Lo Celso is getting so few chances to play for Tottenham Hotspur.
Since the return from his loan at Villarreal last summer, the midfielder has only had 590 minutes on the pitch with 22 appearances under Ange Postecoglou.
Olé today features a story on this situation, mainly highlighting that Lo Celso lives opposite scenarios at the national team and at Tottenham.
The newspaper insists the midfielder is ‘essential’ for the Albiceleste, saying it’s strange he’s ‘so highly regarded elsewhere’ and largely ignored at his club.
It’s pointed out that Postecoglou only uses Lo Celso at the end of matches, regardless of whether Tottenham are winning or losing.
They wonder whether Spurs will give him some chances in the three games left this season, while he also prepares to play the Copa America for Argentina in the summer. He placed in the squad isn’t thought to be in danger, despite what is happening at club level.
Stating that Lo Celso’s contract with Tottenham expires in 2025, Olé writes ‘if they don’t put him in…’, as a message that he may choose to leave the club soon.
