Kendry Páez is confident he will be ready for his big move to Chelsea next summer and is stepping up his efforts to ensure that is the case.
That’s according to Ecuavisa, who cover comments from the youngster today after his latest impressive performance for Independiente del Valle.
The 17-year-old was once again the star of the show for his side in their 1-0 win over Deportivo Cuenca this weekend, scoring the winning the goal with a strike from outside the box.
That was his fourth goal this season to go alongside three assists, an impressive record given he’s only played in 12 Pro League games to date.
It’s further evidence of his rising stardom and proof that Chelsea may have been smart to sign him when they did.
The Blues moved last year to ensure they secured the highly rated youngster ahead of any potential competition, wrapping up a deal that will see him move to Stamford Bridge when he turns 18 in 2025.
He’s been left at Independiente del Valle until that point to continue his development, although he regularly makes trips to Chelsea to integrate himself in the club where possible.
And he’s confident he’ll be ready to hit the ground running in London when he does eventually join Chelsea on a permanent basis in a year’s time.
“I’m trying to play the starting games, score goals, be a protagonist and give assists,” he said.
“I believe that the day-to-day training, the Pro League matches, the Libertadores matches, are going to take me to Chelsea in the best way.”
