Samu Saiz to Leeds United has been creeping forward in the Spanish media, largely based on assumption.
After claims that a deal was close, at the beginning of this week there were fake claims in England that, according to Spanish reports, Saiz was travelling for a Leeds United medical. Those reports didn’t exist.
Wednesday saw Jorge Puyuelo, a journalist close to Huesca, telling Cadena Cope: “It will be official by the latest Monday.”
But there was still no word from Huesca, who aren’t shy about transfers.
Thursday sees regional Spanish newspaper El Periodico de Aragon, from the region Huesca is in, saying Saiz to Leeds United is ‘pending’. They think it’s happening, for a fee over €3m.
Meanwhile, there’s confusion and anger from some Spanish fans on Twitter, who are annoyed Saiz would choose Leeds United over offers from Spain’s top division.
We won’t translate this exactly, it’s not nice, but the rough meaning is ‘why would a player like him choose Leeds?’
Como mierda pierde la liga un jugador como Samu Saiz para irse al leeds?!

This is another one not understanding why a good player would choose England’s second division over Spain’s first.
No entiendo que Samu Sáiz teniendo ofertas de Primera se vaya a jugar a la Segunda Inglesa pero ya se sabe que la pela es la pela

The answer is of course money, but the Spnaish anger and bemusement shows that Saiz is well respected as a player.
