Cruz Azul goalkeeper Kevin Mier has ended up on Brighton & Hove Albion’s transfer radar, according to a report from Mexico.
The Mexican club took the 24-year-old from Colombian side Atlético Nacional in January. He has impressed for them this year, keeping eight clean sheets and conceding 11 goals from 15 matches in all comptetitions.
His fine displays seem to have seen Brighton take notice. Diario de Morelos mention the Seagulls when discussing CF Monterrey’s interest in the stopper.
Monterrey currently have Argentine Esteban Andrada as the first-choice goalkeeper at the club. The outlet claims his performances haven’t been convincing, resulting in the Mexican club looking for options in the market.
It’s claimed they have set their sights on Meir, as his ‘outstanding performances’ have pleased Monterrey. The report adds they will have to offer a ‘good amount’ to secure his services.
Apart from the transfer fee, Monterrey may have to be wary of the competition from other clubs. This is when Brighton and River Plate are mentioned as these two clubs have the South American in their list.
Diario de Morelos state Mier’s asking price starts at $12m [£9.2m]. It’s not made clear whether this is his release clause. This should be affordable for Brighton, if they are keen to sign him.
