Sandro Tonali has made 18 appearances for Newcastle United since joining them from AC Milan in July 2023.
The midfielder served a 10-month ban fro breaking gambling rules and returned to the pitch in August. Since then, he has played six matches for Newcastle. He also regained his place in the Italy squad for the September and October matches.
MilanLive.it now claim Real Madrid have emerged as ‘a surprising new destination’ for the Newcastle player next summer.
The Champions League winners are said to want the 24-year-old.
A move to Eddie Howe’s side was an ‘important stage’ in the Italy international’s career. Despite this, the report indicates the former Milan star would find it ‘difficult to refuse’ the La Liga giants, if they were to table an offer.
The outlet says the Magpies could earn around €50m in the process, which is likely on the low side of a guesstimate. Milan are entitled to receive 10% of any future sale and his sale would certainly be good news for them.
Tonali’s deal lasts until 2028. It’s quite unlikely Newcastle, if they decide to let him leave, will sell for €50m. It remains to be seen whether this claim will be backed up or dismissed by the media in England/Spain.
