Yesterday there were claims in the Italian media Leeds United are showing an interest in Walter Mazzarri. The former Napoli and Inter Milan coach is currently without a job after his recent sacking by Watford, and the 55-year-old is expected to return to football soon.
Mazzarri links were inevitable, because of the Italian connection, just like Aitor Karanka links, with Radrizzani bringing in some Spanish expertise.
TMW have also claimed Mazzarri could be a target for Leeds United, but they say it’ll be difficult for the Championship club to convince him.
Saint Etienne are also looking to bring in the Italian coach, according to TMW, as they look to replace the departed Christophe Galtier. A number of coaches have been linked with the vacant role with the French club, with Mazzarri being one of those.
In all honesty, it would be a surprise if Saint Etienne plumped for Mazzarri.
It would be and ambitious attempt for Leeds United to try and land Mazzarri in the coming weeks, and the likelihood is it won’t happen. Despite being a big name, it’s not too hard to argue that Mazzarri wouldn’t be the best fit for Leeds anyway.
