It’s post-mortem time at Leeds United. A Championship campaign which looked to have a play-off place in the bag was, not so many weeks ago, so optimistic that automatic promotion was still an outside chance.

Garry Monk’s side stuttered at the worst possible time of the season and the potential route to the Premier League was cruelly snatched away. It hurts so much more for Leeds United supporters because the play-off place felt secured for such a long amount of time.

This was going to be the year that Leeds United got back to their rightful place in the Premier League. Now, the club are left to lick their wounds and watch as others fight it out for the final promotion place.

Sweden’s Expressen have played their part in some of the stirring which has unsettled Leeds recently. Speaking to Pontus Jansson’s agent, the newspaper then linked the defender with clubs which inexplicably included Chelsea and Tottenham.

Now they say that whilst Leeds United plan a ‘new statement’ in their quest for promotion, meaning they’ll regroup and aim to come back stronger for next season, the interest in Jansson is strong.

It may be painful to sell but there’s no use in Leeds keeping Jansson if transfer rumours start again just under a year from now, he’s then strangely out of the team, his agent pushes the story, and it probably harms the club as a whole.
