L’Equipe say there’s ‘no doubt’ among the Marseille group of goalkeepers and goalkeeping coaches that Steve Mandanda will return to the club this summer.
Whilst publicly all involved have been calming the possibility of a summer return, at Marseille there are many who believe the switch is simply too obvious not to happen.
Mandanda was an absolute hero at Marseille, putting in at times super-human performances for the club. Therefore, the perceived ‘drop’ to Crystal Palace wasn’t what fans wanted for their hero, but it was accepted due to his desire to play in England.
Injury, subsequent infection, and Sam Allardyce have all had roles in turning Mandanda’s English adventure into something of a nightmare.
Now, say the French newspaper, Mandanda would see a return to Marseille as a ‘dream’, and it would also allow the goalkeeper to be closer to his family.
The move makes sense on several levels and it would surprise nobody if this Crystal Palace transfer happens in the summer window.
