Newcastle said to be on the trail to sign their former player back, would be huge shock

 

This one should bring some laughter to Newcastle United fans, Italy’s Calciomercato are reporting that Rafael Benitez’s club are on the trail of Moussa Sissoko.

Yes, that Moussa Sissoko. The very same Moussa Sissoko who was trying to leave Newcastle United for years. The exact Moussa Sissoko who Newcastle fans will tell you was poor for them last season when they really needed him.

Sissoko’s struggles at Tottenham, and Mauricio Pochettino’s public complaints about the player’s application, haven’t brought wishes from Newcastle fans of a return… but rather ridicule and laughter.

Whilst a player like Sissoko in his prime would certainly be popular at St James’ Park, and would improve Benitez’s Newcastle United team as they move on from the Championship, it would be a shock if it was the actual Sissoko.

A Tottenham exit this summer would be a surprise to nobody, given that Pochettino clearly isn’t a big fan, but some bridges would have to be built to make Newcastle a viable destination.
