If Olympique et Lyonnais in France are to be believed, Tottenham are keeping tabs on a very interesting 15-year-old striker making a name for himself in the youth leagues.
Back in March, we covered a story about Chelsea’s interest in Lyon’s youth product Willem Geubbels, with the London club making contact with his father about a possible move, but other clubs, including Spurs, are now said to have joined the race to sign him.
In fact, the interest from Mauricio Pochettino’s side is revealed in an article on the Lyon fan website claiming the Ligue 1 club had rejected €5m from Red Bull Salzburg for the goalscoring prodigy.
Manchester United and Liverpool are also said to have expressed an interest, alongside Tottenham and Chelsea, in Geubbels, keeping tabs on his progression through their scouts.
Having already made the big mistake in the past of letting a certain Anthony Martial leave their academy prematurely, Lyon aren’t exactly keen to have a repeat scenario with Geubbels.
However, with Maxwel Cornet already at the club, as well as recently buying Jean-Philippe Mateta from Chateauroux, there is some competition for the 15-year-old at Lyon.
Then again, there’s still some way to go before he gets his chance with the first-team.
Geubbels has made five appearances for France’s U17s since the 1st of February, scoring four goals for his country.
