Everton ‘knocked on the door’ for RB Leipzig midfielder Tom Krauß this summer but he has turned down a move to the Premier League for now.
That’s according to Sky Sports Germany, who say the 22-year-old wants to remain in the Bundesliga and is keen on a move to Mainz.
A report earlier this summer indicated that Everton were lining up a cheap deal for Krauß, who had impressed on loan at Schalke this season despite them eventually being relegated.
It seems Everton are now out of the picture, though, with Sky reporting that the Toffees had ‘knocked on the door’ for the player recently.
However, Krauß ‘ruled out a move’ to England in an interview with Sky, ‘for now’ at least, as he would prefer to stay in Germany and develop there.
Indeed, according to their information, he’s set to swap clubs immediately and has already reached an agreement with Mainz on a contract. They now need to work out a deal with Leipzig, who are eyeing a deal worth €5-7m.
Bad news for the Blues, of course, who will have to look elsewhere for potential cheap additions to Sean Dyche’s squad.
