Over the past week it was reported that both Sunderland and Leicester City have taken a keen interest in Red Star Belgrade’s Luka Adzic.
Both Premier League clubs were said to have sent scouts to the Belgrade derby on March 4th to watch Adzic against Partizan. The Serbian media had also reported that a bunch of clubs would be watching the match, with Celtic picked out as one of them.
Even more curious is that despite some of the reports coming after the match, it wasn’t pointed out that Adzic didn’t actually play. He didn’t get a minute, and that wasn’t considered a surprise in Serbia, so surely Leicester and Sunderland will have been aware.
Celtic’s attempt to scout players seems to have been much more realistic, since it was covered in Serbia and it wasn’t suggested the Rodgers’ spy had been watching someone who didn’t get off the bench.
The scouting emissaries sent from Celtic Park this season have gone far and wide, with Serbia simply the latest stop.
