At the start of October, Calciomercato.it explained ‘skirmishes continue’ between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur for Joško Gvardiol as the RB Leipzig player is a target for the two Premier League clubs.
Journalist Niccolò Ceccarini, writing in his column for TuttoMercatoWeb, focuses on Juventus and Inter Milan plans to shape up their defence for the second half of this season.
He says the two Serie A sides are the 20-year-old’s suitors, along with both Chelsea and Tottenham.
Gvardiol, who can also be deployed on the left side of the defence, has a contract until 2027. As per Ceccarini, the centre-back’s valuation is ‘already very high’ and a potential operation could not be carried out before next summer.
Although Gvardiol signed a new deal at Leipzig in September, he has opened the door to leave his current employer next year. Therefore, there is a possibility for his suitors, which includes Chelsea and Tottenham, to sign him in 2023.
Meanwhile, Ceccarini says Graham Potter’s side have liked Denzel Dumfries for some time and could immediately make an attempt to sign him, likely in January. Inter’s demand will be ‘very high’ for the Dutchman, but Chelsea have the financial strength to ‘shake’ the Nerazzurri.
