With Graham Potter trying to swiftly turn things around at Chelsea these days, one of the big questions was who would be between the sticks for him?

Edouard Mendy was the undisputed starter last season, but a few mistakes under Thomas Tuchel at the start of the campaign and a subsequent injury led to Kepa Arrizabalaga taking over.

The Spaniard was the starting goalkeeper in the 3-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers, and that is expected to continue for the time being.

Mendy was on the bench in that game, which has worried the Senegalese press, as they would much rather their star get minutes ahead of the World Cup than see him sit around with a coat on.

Senenews had a chat with Christophe Lollichon, who was the man partially behind the player’s arrival at Chelsea, who wasn’t overly worried.

He said: “He’s had to digest everything that’s happened to him in the past three years. He’ll find his form again because he’s gone through far more important crises in his life.

“These days, things are mixing a bit. He was injured with an annoying inflammation. The pressure has only increased over the past three years for him. Him playing less will allow him to find stability and serenity.”

This a situation that needs to be monitored going forward, because, as well as the players, Chelsea will want their best man available in goal.
