Cagliari’s stance over selling Nahitan Nandez, especially last summer, has come back to bite them.
The Sardinia club were insistent with their demands for a permanent transfer, and an offer of more than €30m. Nandez himself was pushing for a move and ended up falling out with his club, but the situation couldn’t be resolved.
L’Unione Sarda, a newspaper local to Cagliari, report West Ham offered a package worth ‘over €40m’ for the player, which was refused by the Italian side.
L’Unione Sarda report Nandez is now available for less than €12m, with most of the interest in the 26-year-old slipping away.
Whether West Ham could be tempted to return to the picture for the midfielder isn’t mentioned.
