Earlier today, we carried a report from Mundo Deportivo, who explained that Newcastle United are ‘in pole position’ for Ousmane Dembélé after making an ‘astronomical offer’ to the Barcelona player.
The Magpies’ proposal includes an annual salary of €15m for the winger, a signing on bonus of €15m and big commission for his agent, if he were to arrive at St James’ Park as a free agent next summer.
Dembélé has over seven months left on his contract at the Camp Nou and is not pleased by the renewal offer proposed by the La Liga side.
Newcastle’s interest in signing the 24-year-old is further backed by journalist Moisés Llorens. He took to Twitter to state the Tyneside club ‘want’ the Frenchman.

The question that remains is whether the wideman will agree to join Newcastle, who are currently are at bottom of the league table with a real risk of relegation.
Dembélé will have to ‘choose sooner rather than later’, yet it’s worth making clear the Spanish media are seeing Newcastle United as a real option, rather than something to laugh off.
