As was revealed on Wednesday, it appears Paulo Fonseca will be the new Newcastle United manager.
Already in talks to take over at Tottenham in the summer, the former AS Roma boss seems to be the man the new ownership have decided will be the first to try and turn the ship around, with hope he will grow with the club and turn them into the superpower they want to become.
English reports claimed advanced talks were being undertaken between Newcastle and the Portuguese manager, and that’s being corroborated in Italy.
Corriere dello Sport have an article dedicated to the situation on Thursday, with them stating he is ‘very close’ to taking over at St James’ Park.
Disagreements with Fabio Paratici led to the London club opting for Nuno Espirito Santo instead, leaving Fonseca a free agent and approachable by the Magpies.
The plan at Newcastle is for ‘a long-term project and gradual growth’, with them seeing the Portuguese man as the ideal man currently available for that role.
Only time will tell, but it seems Fonseca is edging ever closer to returning to a dugout, this time on Tyneside.
