Steven N’Zonzi is the centre of attention on Monday in the Spanish media.
The former Stoke midfielder scored the only goal of the game on Sunday between Sevilla and Atlético Madrid, calmly slotting past Jan Oblak after being put through one on one.
N’Zonzi’s performance during the game has been lauded by most Spanish outlets, and Sport on Monday have an article calling the 27-year-old the ‘new’ Patrick Vieira.
Coincidentally, the Catalan newspaper also report Arsenal are ‘ringing’ on Sevilla’s doorbell about the midfielder, alongside London rivals Chelsea.
With an alleged release clause of €30m in his contract, neither club would struggle to meet such an amount, meaning Sevilla might want to start looking at renewing his contract in the near future, even if his current deal doesn’t run out until 2019.
Leicester were keen on N’Zonzi over the summer, but the player’s rise since joining Sevilla has been such that bigger clubs, like Arsenal or Chelsea, could be more realistic destinations these days if he were to leave Sevilla early.
Furthermore, adapting to the Premier League wouldn’t really be an issue, having already played at the Emirates and Stamford Bridge in the past, albeit for Stoke.
