Spending five years at West Ham United between 2007 and 2012, Julien Faubert’s career, which is still going, has been interesting to say the least.

Starting in France with Bordeaux, the player moved to England with West Ham before being briefly loaned to Real Madrid for six months.

A free transfer to Elazigspor in Turkey was then followed by a return to Bordeaux before his final move: four months at Kilmarnock FC, leaving on a free in July 2016.

However, out of all those clubs, one stands out in particular, and that’s West Ham.

Speaking to beIN Sports, relayed by Girondins4Ever, the right-back/midfielder/winger explained why he held the London club so close to his heart, even four years after leaving.

He said: “It was a dream as a child to play in England. When I got there, I understood this club was different, a club with incredible fans. I spent the best years of my career over there, with fans who love you.

“They’re behind you as long as you give it your all and 100% effort, and that’s a club that will stay forever in my heart. It’s a club that I adored, where I spent extraordinary moment with amazing atmospheres.”

The player, who was clearly running out of superlatives for his former club at this stage, also explained why he understood Dimitri Payet’s decision join Slavan Bilic’s project when he left Marseille.

During his time at West Ham, the player made 121 appearances, scoring two goals and picking up 11 assists along the way.
