With the season now underway and the transfer window now closed, Manchester United are in the scouting business.
Representatives were sent on Thursday night to watch Red Bull Salzburg against OGC Nice in the Europa League, which the French side won 1-0, where a variety of young midfielders were on display.
Staying in Ligue 1, the Red Devils are also keeping an eye on a 16-year-old attacking midfielder named Vincent Thill.
This is, at least, according to Tuttosport, who look at some of Juventus’ targets to bolster their youth team, focusing on players born after 2000.
The name Vincent Thill might ring a bell as the youngster made a name for himself recently by becoming the youngest Luxembourg international of all time (and picking up an extra five caps since), before swiftly becoming their youngest goalscorer a few days later when he netted in a 3-1 loss to Nigeria.
Aware of the talent they have on their hands, having seen him develop since he moved to the club in 2012, Metz ensured the forward wasn’t going anywhere by handing him his first professional contract in May.
The Ligue 1 club might have a tough time deterring potential suitors in the future though, such is the renown of the European sides keeping tabs on him.
As well as Manchester United and Juventus, Tuttosport state Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are also keen on the youngster.
That’s on top of Manchester City and Real Madrid, who were also reported as being interested over the weekend by Le Journal Du Dimanche.
Thill, whose older brother Sébastien is also a Luxembourg international, has only made one appearance for his club this season, coming off the bench for the last eight minutes in a 3-0 loss to Bordeaux.
Good luck, Metz.
