Once struggling for game time at Watford, Christian Kabasele has managed to find some regularity under Nigel Pearson since the Englishman took over from Quique Sánchez Flores.
The Belgium international has started 10 of the last 13 games in the Premier League for the Hornets, including a good performance in the 3-0 win over Liverpool at the weekend.
While Watford might not have had results go their way, there has been a general consensus the team has performed well regardless, and there are now some in the player’s home country who think he could be called back up to the Belgium national team.
Whether the player himself believes he can, the answer is yes, and even as soon as the upcoming 2020 Euros.
“Maybe I’m penalised a bit by the club’s position and the fact Watford have let in a lot of goals, but it’s that type of game, the ones I call my Champions League games, against teams in the top six, that’s when you have to perform and show that despite the club’s standing, as an individual, I’m having good games”.
Kabasele’s last cap came in a 1-0 friendly win over Japan back in November 2017, and his last call up was in November 2018, when he sat on the bench for both UEFA Nations League games against Iceland and Switzerland.
Since joining Watford in 2016, he has made 96 appearances for the club, and scored five goals.
