Championship sides continue doing scouting jobs in Portugal. Last night, it was time for two clubs to watch the clash between Benfica and Moreirense.
As reported by local newspaper A Bola, Fulham and Leeds United both had emissaries at the Estádio da Luz, where they saw a 1-1 draw.
The result has been a big blow for Benfica, who were top of the table, but ended the night in second place, since Porto won their game against Santa Clara.
The Eagles first had the chance to open the scoring with a penalty, but were stopped by Moreirense goalkeeper Mateus Pasinato, who was the away side’s best player.
Fábio Abreu opened the scoring for Moreirense in the second half, and, only in extra time, Benfica won another penalty, which was taken and scored by Pizzi in his second chance.
Fulham and Leeds haven’t been linked to any Benfica or Moreirense players lately. We’ve recently pointed out that the Elland Road side are apparently intensifying their scouting job in Portugal, so perhaps they’ll be making some attempts when the summer window comes.
