Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti held a ‘reassuring’ meeting with the club’s major shareholders this week to map out plans for moving forward.
Ancelotti replaced Marco Silva at Goodison Park last month and has enjoyed a strong start to life on Merseyside, with three wins and two draws from his five league games in charge so far.
Before his arrival, it was rumoured that the Italian had been promised funds this month to reshape the squad he inherited from Silva.
So far, Everton’s only transfer business has been the signing of Jarrad Branthwaite for the U23 side, despite their need for reinforcements.
According to the newspaper, Everton’s plan is to do what they can this season and ‘lay the groundwork’ for an ‘ambitious’ rebuild in the summer transfer window.
Signings in January could still happen, though, with Ancelotti keen to add a central midfielder to his squad as injuries have ravaged the squad in that area.
Ancelotti’s dream signing would be Allan from Napoli, but that is considered an ‘impossible dream’ and the club are instead trying to find a ‘photocopy of the Brazilian’.
