As summer transfer surprises went, the transfer of Patrick Cutrone to Wolverhampton Wanderers was up there.
After all, the young forward was a fan favourite at Milan, having fought his way through the youth ranks to become a consistent member of the first team, but a change in vision meant a sale was needed, and Wolves pounced at the opportunity.
The player himself seemed a bit perplexed at the situation as he was unceremoniously yanked from preseason tour in order for him to complete a transfer he clearly wasn’t all that keen on in the first place, but it happened, and he’s taken quite well to life in England so far.
He hasn’t been a regular starter, but has performed reasonably well when called upon, even scoring his second Premier League goal against West Ham on December 4th.
According to La Repubblica, Bologna made contact for the 21-year-old on Saturday (December 7th) as they try and bolster their attack for the second half of the season.
Their number one target remains Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but should they fail to sign the Swede, younger options, like the Wolves forward and Moise Kean, are being looked at, with both currently being ‘underemployed’ by their respective clubs, and ‘eager to regain a spot in the sun’ in Serie A.
That’s all there really is for now, but it will be interesting to see how Cutrone and Wolverhampton react to all this, even if the player’s agent told SampNews24 back in mid-November his client would be remaining in England ‘100%’.
