The Brazilian press continues to report today interest from European sides in signing Vasco da Gama striker Marrony.

Outlet Globo brings a story saying the player is currently wanted by three clubs: Newcastle United, Sporting and Porto.

The Dragons are apparently the latest side to join the race, with the report claiming that they’re now ‘monitoring’ the 20-year-old.

But Newcastle are still pointed out as the main contender. Globo writes that the interest from the Magpies is ‘more mature’, since they’ve been following Marrony for longer, with Steve Nickson watching the player in Rio de Janeiro.

Globo confirms that Marrony is protected by a €35m release clause. Vasco own 70% of his rights, with the other 30% going to his former club Volta Redonda.

The Brazilian press is still to reveal how much Vasco want for the sale. They say the plan is to make £6.4m with sales this year, and Marrony’s transfer will surely be enough to reach that goal.
