Loaned to FC Nantes for the season, Chelsea’s Matt Miazga isn’t enjoying the best season in France.

Heavily criticised for some of his performances, the USA international has been pushed to one side by new manager Vahid Halilhodzic, who has preferred to play Nicolas Pallois in his stead.

Recently telling Goal he was expecting to see out the season in Ligue 1 and fight for his place in the squad until the very end, it seems the club have different ideas.

According to Emmanuel Merceron, a former employee and a well respected source about what goes on behind closed doors at the French side, Halilhodzic and co. would prefer to see the Blues’ defender return to Stamford Bridge in January rather than have him stick around until June.

However, the problem with this is that Chelsea aren’t particularly keen on seeing the 23-year-old return early, most likely worried they won’t be able to loan him back out for the second half of the season.

One to keep an eye on over the next month or so.
