Leeds United have been given a boost to sign Torino defender Pontus Jansson after the Serie A side landed a replacement for the Swede. Jansson looks surplus to requirements at Torino, and a move to Leeds United is now looking more likely.

TMW have today reported Torino have signed Brazilian defender Leandro Castan from fellow Serie A side AS Roma. The 29-year-old only joined Sampdoria a month ago on loan, but has now met up with his new teammates at Torino in a bizarre turn of events.

The Brazil international’s arrival now means Pontus Jansson will be able to find a new club after it became apparent the Swedish international isn’t in the long terms plans of Torino coach Sinisa Mihajlovic. The Serbian has now given the green light for Jansson to head to England following the arrival of Castan.

Jansson was seen on Tuesday night in the stands during Leeds United’s clash with Fulham, with claims the Championship side want to take the 25-year-old on loan for the season.

Despite Kamil Glik recently leaving Torino for Monaco, Jansson still looks to have no future with the Turin club, and a transfer to Leeds United looks close.
