As you might have heard, West Ham United did indeed make a move for Albert Gudmundsson this winter, only for Genoa to shut the door to a transfer.
They, alongside Aston Villa, have been linked with the Iceland international over the past couple of months, who has surprised many with his impressive performances in Serie A this season.
While a move for January might be off the cards, West Ham and the Villans will have to make do with a lot of competition in the summer, as Juventus are now hovering, as pointed out by Calciomercato, who have an article after Gazzetta dello Sport mentioned the Turin side on Tuesday.
It’s explained that Max Allegri’s club are willing to prepare an offer for June to sign the forward, but they are warned they will have to fend off the English clubs.
The two sides named ‘in chronological order’ are West Ham and Aston Villa, who have been after him for ‘some time’.
Either way, for a transfer to take place in the summer, the belief is Genoa will hardly let him go for ‘less than €30m’, which shouldn’t be too much of an issue for either Premier League side if they have their mind set on signing someone during the off-season.
