Earlier this month, Tottenham Hotspur confirmed the appointment of Johan Lange as their new technical director with effect from November 1st.

In this week’s edition of Tipsbladet, their editor-in-chief Troels Bager Thøgersen takes a look at the Dane’s past record and discusses what he should do at Spurs.

Thøgersen states Lange’s first task at Tottenham will be to sort out Pierre-Emile Højbjerg’s future.

The midfielder hasn’t enjoyed regular game time under Ange Postecoglou and made his first league start of the season against Fulham earlier this week. Recent reports have said Juventus and Atlético Madrid are interested in signing him in January.

Thøgersen believes the 28-year-old is ‘too good a footballer to just be a reserve’, even at a club like Spurs. He adds the Denmark international is ‘pointing towards a change’, as early as the winter market, if his situation at the north London club doesn’t improve.

Barring ‘unexpected developments’ in Højbjerg’s situation in the next few weeks, the journalist insists Lange has to ‘find that solution’ for the midfielder in a ‘good and constructive way’.

Thøgersen believes the player’s resume would be attractive for various clubs but the question is whether he can find the ‘right solution’ in January.
