Jarell Quansah has enjoyed a successful debut for his new club, Bayer Leverkusen.
Leverkusen secured the 22-year-old in a £35m package as Quansah was struggling for game time at Liverpool.
Quansah made 25 appearances for Liverpool last season, but he couldn’t solidify a starting position at The Reds.
Kicker report that it didn’t take long for the England international to adapt to Ten Hag’s tactics as he stated that he “played in that system for a short time with England’s U19s and got along well with it”.
“For example, I can bring my strengths to bear in ball control. Of course, it takes some time to get used to it, but I feel comfortable no matter where the coach puts me.”
Leverkusen midfielder Jonas Hoffman highlighted Quansah’s performance: “I saw him mostly confident. He exudes composure on the ball, and that’s exactly what we need. He demonstrated good vision in the build-up play. I think this was a good first test for him, too.”
Another player, Edmond Tapsoba, stated that Quansah is “a very good player, good with the ball, aggressive, and strong in the air.”
Quansah has three remaining pre-season games before the regular season starts as he aims to be the successor of Jonathon Tah, who left for Bayern Munich this summer and will be sorely missed.
Liverpool have a buy-back-clause on the 22-year-old, which can be activated in 2027.
