Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa can have an opportunity to sign Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford this summer.

The England international lost prominence at Old Trafford and moved to Aston Villa on loan in January 2025.

Unai Emery wanted to extend his stay, but the Manchester United snubbed them to join Barcelona last summer.

The forward scored 14 goals and contributed 14 assists from 49 matches for Barcelona.

He won the La Liga this season and is keen to continue at the Camp Nou. Hansi Flick’s can make his stay permanent by exercising the €30m purchase clause.

There’s been repeat claims that the Spanish champions are refusing to buy him for €30m. The latest claims even talked about Manchester United rejecting a €15m bid from Barca.

Tottenham and Aston Villa keen

Thursday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo relays that and then provides their own updates. The newspaper also covers Spurs and the Europa League winners’ interest in Marcus Rashford.

Sources close to the player informed Mundo that the Catalan club haven’t made a €15m proposal to Michael Carrick’s side so far.

Barca have until June 15th to inform Manchester United whether they want to activate the clause. This is unlikely to happen as their intention is to either lower the price or sign him on a fresh loan deal.

As of now, the Camp Nou side have had no communication with Manchester United.

The Red Devils are waiting for this and are frustrated with the lack of progress, considering the other two parties want to extend their association.

Manchester United are also aware Rashford has a market and has offers from elsewhere.

Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa are his suitors, and the Old Trafford are optimistic the Premier League duo can meet their €30m price.

However, the Englishman remains firm and prioritises extending his stay at Barcelona.

Developments expected later this month

Barcelona have until June 15th to communicate their decision to Manchester United. If this doesn’t happen, the Red Devils can then try to place Marcus Rashford at another club.

On Wednesday, Sport Witness relayed news of Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa making contact.

With Mundo now backing the duo’s interest, they could make advances if the La Liga side don’t communicate their decision before June 15th.

It’s unclear where the attacker will play next season, but what seems certain is that he has no future at Manchester United.
