Nottingham Forest and AFC Bournemouth could battle for Eintracht Frankfurt’s Arthur Theate this summer.
The centre-back initially joined the Bundesliga side on loan from Stade Rennais in August 2024 and made his stay permanent a year later.
His performances would have convinced Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth to consider signing him.
Theate finished this season with 33 appearances, operating mainly as a centre-back and at times as a left-back.
His league stats per game are as follows:
- Appearances: 24
- Starts: 24
- Total minutes: 2,143
- Interceptions: 1.3
- Tackles: 1.5
- Possession won (final third): 0.3
- Recoveries: 3.3
- Clearances: 5.6
- Blocked shots: 0.7
- Duels won: 3.5
Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth make contact
The 26-year-old could be on the move in the upcoming window, according to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri.
He took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to report the defender has opened the door to leave Eintracht Frankfurt. When discussing his suitors, both Nottingham Forest and the Cherries are named.
Tavolieri claims the Premier League duo have ‘already made enquires’, without making it clear whether they contacted the German club, his agent or both.
The Belgium international, who spent the 2021/22 season on loan at Bologna, is also appreciated in Serie A.
There’s no mention or indication whether Arthur Theate prefers a move to the City Ground or Bournemouth, or about the transfer fee.
Nottingham Forest finished 16th in the table while the Cherries qualified for the Europa League for the first time in their history. The latter saw Andoni Iraola leave the club and they are yet to appoint his successor.
The new manager would have a major say on the possibility of Bournemouth making any further advances for Theate. As of now, they are in the tussle with Vítor Pereira’s side to sign him.
Nottingham Forest are also keen on AS Roma centre-back Jan Ziółkowski. On Wednesday, Sport Witness relayed news there’s a €5m gap in valuation between the two clubs.
