Tottenham’s turbulent season appears to have left its mark on Thomas Frank. Nearly five months after being sacked, the Dane is still rejecting approaches as he prioritises a break from football.
Frank has been linked with several vacancies since leaving Spurs in February. However, fresh comments from his agent suggest there is little chance of the former Tottenham boss returning to the dugout anytime soon.
Agent confirms decision
Speaking to Bold.dk, with the comments carried by Ekstra Bladet, Frank’s agent Allan Bak confirmed there has been interest from multiple clubs.
“There have been several enquiries, but Thomas Frank is taking a break from coaching, and that remains the case. He will not be taking a job in these months.
“He wants to take a break before taking on a new job at a later date.”
Bak also dismissed suggestions that Strasbourg had made contact over their managerial vacancy.
The comments are in line with the position Frank outlined himself a couple of weeks ago. At that time, he publicly explained why he was stepping away from management after his Tottenham spell.
Tottenham experience still shaping plans
Thomas Frank has been without a job since February 11, when Tottenham dismissed him after a disappointing spell in north London.
Since then, Frank has struggled to escape the rumour mill. He has been linked with Crystal Palace, Bournemouth, Fulham and now Strasbourg. Back in April, a trip to Portugal also prompted suggestions he could be lining up his next move. However, no job materialised from the visit.
In a statement released through British press earlier this month, Frank explained that football management demands complete commitment. He also said this was a rare opportunity to “evaluate, learn and gain new perspectives.”
He also looked back fondly on his time at Spurs despite the disappointing results.
“From the outside, it may have looked like a period with many challenges at Tottenham because the results were not what we wanted. From the inside, however, it becomes clear why the club is so special – filled with talented people who work tirelessly every single day. I have no doubt Tottenham has a bright future.”
For now, there is no indication Frank is ready to change course. Several clubs may have made enquiries, but his camp is making it clear that recovering from his Tottenham experience remains the priority before considering the next step in his career.
