Ousmane Diomande’s move to Nottingham Forest this summer is one of the best deals of the window.

That’s at least the opinion of former Tottenham midfielder Didier Zokora. He believes that his fellow Ivorian is ready to take the Premier League by storm.

The 22-year-old joined Nottingham Forest in a €45m deal from Sporting Club de Portugal this summer, signing a five-year deal with Oliver Glasner’s side.

It brought an end to year’s of speculation about a move to the Premier League for the youngster. Reports have regularly linked him with a big money move to England as he impressed in Portugal.

Ready to conquer

Now he has his chance to prove himself at Nottingham Forest, where he is likely to form a part of Glasner’s back three this season. Zokora is looking forward to seeing him thrive.

He puts the transfer to Nottingham Forest as the best transfer for Ivorian players this summer.

“As a former Premier League player, I can tell you that this is the perfect move for Ousmane,” he told Africa Foot.

“Portugal was great for learning tactical discipline, but to become a global powerhouse, you need to experience the physical battles of English football week in, week out.

“Reuniting with Sangaré at Forest will give him a massive foundation. The kid from Abobo is ready to conquer the Premier League!”

Nottingham Forest

He’s not the only one with that opinion either. Cédric Kanté is also enthused about the move, putting it number two in his own top five rankings.

“His move to the Premier League comes as no surprise. It had been in the works for some time,” he told Africa Foot.

“For both Sporting Lisbon and the player, himself, it was hard to turn down Forest’s offer. He has the qualities to make his mark. Diomandé has developed significantly in Portugal; he is a physical, imposing defender who also possesses genuine technical ability.

“This move to England will undoubtedly allow him to continue his development and elevate his status within the Ivorian national team.”
