Swansea City

Swansea City are keen on bringing AIK Fotboll talent Kevin Filling to the Championship, pushing further than Aston Villa or Manchester United have.

The 17-year-old came up through the ranks of the Swedish club’s academy and was promoted to the first team in 2025. He had a short loan spell at Enköpings SK in the first half of last year.

Since returning from loan, the striker has scored two goals from nine matches in 2025. This year, he has a goal from 336 minutes from nine matches.

His statistics aren’t that impressive yet but he’s still caught the attention of Swansea City and other UK clubs.

In November, Sport Witness covered claims from Sweden about Aston Villa joining Manchester United in the transfer chase. Later that month, we relayed news of the Red Devils making first contact over a potential deal.

At that time, the player said he wasn’t aware of these transfer links and wasn’t thinking about a move.

Swansea City keen on youngster

Fast forward to May and Sportbladet, relayed by Fotbolltransfers, report on Swansea City’s interest in Kevin Filling.

The outlet reiterates Manchester United, Aston Villa and RB Leipzig interest and claims from the UK citing Newcastle United as a suitor. Sturm Graz were the club to push the most in the last window.

However, AIK Fotboll didn’t entertain offers for the Sweden U19 international in the winter market.

Since then, Vítor Matos’ side have emerged as a contender. The Welsh club have shown ‘concrete interest’ in the attacker, so much so that they submitted an offer of SEK 25m, which comes around €2.3m.

Swansea City sent this proposal several weeks ago and AIK Fotboll already rejected it. Sportbladet have no information on whether the Swans will return with an improved bid.

Our take: Swansea City aren’t rushing

Vítor Matos has already indicated Žan Vipotnik can leave Swansea City after this season.

In that case, the Championship side would need a new striker and have identified targets. Last month, Sport Witness relayed news of Toulouse FC’s Frank Magri as an option.

Kevin Filling can’t be an option at the start of next season because he’s not eligible to move to the UK in the summer.

The Swede turns 18 years of age in November, meaning he has to wait until next January, if he wants to move to the UK.
