Aston Villa have joined Manchester United in the race to sign AIK Fotboll’s Kevin Filling.
That’s according to Fotboll Direkt, who cover Manchester United and Aston Villa interest and the Swedish club’s stance on the 16-year-old.
On Thursday, the Swedish media dismissed claims that Manchester United are in concrete negotiations with AIK Fotboll.
Fotboll Direkt cover that and provide the latest on the Red Devils and Aston Villa.
The striker left Västerås SK to join AIK Fotbol’s academy in 2023. Earlier this year, he was sent on loan to Enköpings SK FK, where he played three matches.
Since his return to his parent club, the Sweden U18 international has scored two goals from seven matches. The report states both Manchester United and Aston Villa have sent their scouts to Sweden to watch the youngster live in action.
It’s further claimed the Red Devils initiated contact with AIK Fotbol. Their plan has been to send him on loan to FC Lausanne-Sport, an Ineos owned club.
Manchester United didn’t make advances after signalling their wish to pay €3m. AIK Fotbol are said to have responded quickly that €5m is needed to sanction the player’s sale. The report adds Aston Villa are also not willing to pay over €3m.
Filling will turn 18 years of age in November 2026. He won’t be able to move to the UK until then, even if the Red Devils or the Villans were to reach an agreement with his club.
