Southampton midfielder Caspar Jander wants to leave this summer following their failure to reach the Premier League.

BILD Stuttgart report that Jander wants to leave St. Mary’s this summer as the fallout from Spy Gate continues to spread.

Southampton repercussions

The newspaper explains that the repercussions from the incident are not just set to hurt Southampton.

Caspar Jander would have earned Nuremberg around €1m in bonuses after his after his €12m move to Southampton last summer. That was tied to promotion to the Premier League.

Now they won’t get that, and they’ll suffer elsewhere as well. Had Southampton gone up, Jander’s value would have been higher. Nuremberg would have received a portion of any transfer.

Now any fee they receive from a transfer is set to be ‘significantly lower’. Jander wants to move on this summer, but it won’t be for a price anywhere near what it could have been.

Several German clubs are reportedly showing strong interest in the Southampton midfielder. They are likely to try and take advantage of Southampton’s need to sell after missing out on promotion.

Nuremberg will get a cut from the deal. But it won’t be as good as what they could have gotten. For a team sitting in 8th in the 2. Bundesliga, that’s a harsh blow to say the least.

Either way, Caspar Jander wants to leave Southampton this summer. And he is not likely to be the only player seeking an exit amid the current drama either.

Reports in England have made it clear that the group are speaking to lawyers about lost bonuses and opportunities that would have come with promotion to the Premier League. most will, likely, be considering their transfer options.

Southampton face a difficult few months as the focus continues and their squad perhaps faces a major overhaul.
