Despite being technically contracted to Watford until the end of the next season, Marco Silva has allowed Valon Behrami to find himself a new club this summer.
The 32-year-old midfielder, who arrived at Vicarage Road for just over £3m back in 2015 from HSV, made 27 league appearances under Walter Mazzarri last season, but doesn’t appear to have convinced the Hornets’ new manager.
This has led to speculation sending him back to Switzerland, where he grew up and for whom he plays for internationally, but a return to Italy could also be on the cards.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Udinese are one of the clubs to have taken an interest in Behrami as they look to bolster their midfielder for the upcoming season.
Were this move to happen, adapting back to life in Italy shouldn’t be too much of a problem for the Switzerland international considering he already has over 160 Serie A appearances under his belt during time at Lazio, Verona, Genoa, Napoli and Fiorentina.
It makes sense for all parties involved.
