Ruben Amorim will come to Manchester United and make thing simple for the players, so that carrying out his plan on the pitch will be easy.
That’s according to Brazilian Bruno Tabata, via Premier League Brasil, who worked under the Portuguese coach during his time with Sporting Club de Portugal.
Tabata joined Sporting in a €5m deal in September 2020, the same year that Amorim took over the club.
The midfielder went on to make 52 appearances under the 39-year-old during his two years at the club before eventually returning to Brazil with Palmeiras.
It means he is well placed to comment on what life under Amorim is like behind the scenes and on the training pitch and what he’ll do at Manchester United.
Amorim is set to move to Manchester United last this month, with the deal to sign him from Sporting having him head to England in the next international break.
He’s expected to make big changes to the side behind the scenes, particularly if he is to get the current squad playing in the style that has made him such a success in Portugal.
Tabata is confident he can do that, having experienced how he works behind the scenes for himself.
“I’ve been saying for a long time that the manager needed to be tested in new challenges, because I believe he has the quality and potential to be one of the best technicians in the world. Manchester United is perhaps a gigantic opportunity for this,” he said.
“He has some original methods; he hardly changes his routines during the week. Perhaps he is even more detailed and demanding (at United) because of the greater demand and competitiveness.
“The way he sets up and explains his way of playing was, without a doubt, what impacted me the most, so later, when we took him to the game, he made it simple. Individually, he is not a coach who demands a lot, he is very attentive to collective values.
“I believe he already has an idea of achieving results in the short term and, over time, becoming stronger. I think they want to establish a strong base this year so that, in the next few years, they can grow and evolve even further.”
