Brighton’s Valentin Barco is currently on a season-long loan deal at Sevilla.
After not really settling into life in England towards the end of last season, the Argentine wanted to take his development forward at the Spanish club.
That hasn’t gone according to plan, as the full-back has played less than 300 minutes in La Liga and just once in the last four games.
While there should be concern at Brighton, some details about the 20-year-old’s situation have emerged from Spain.
ABC Sevilla note that Barco is not meeting manager Garcia Pimienta’s expectations so far and a key problem that the player is facing concerns regarding his all-round ability.
The feeling is that Barco is lacking defensively and while there is attacking freedom in the system, he goes overboard with the attacking side of the game.
His error along those lines led to a goal against Girona and since then, Pimienta has had doubts about the player, who is still working hard to prove himself.
