West Ham United goalkeeper Nathan Trott has told Tipsbladet that he’s unclear where his future lies beyond this season.

The 25-year-old joined the Hammers from Bermudian side North Village Rams in 2016 and was initially part of their youth team. He’s made only one appearance for West Ham’s senior team so far, and has been sent out on loan.

Trott has been on loan at Danish club Vejle Boldklub since 2022 and has been a regular this season. He’s kept three clean sheets and conceded 21 goals from 17 matches for Vejle.

Both his temporary deal at Vejle and contract with David Moyes’ side last until the end of the season. This would be a concern for the stopper, who currently lacks clarity over his long-term future.

Trott, however, has revealed West Ham do have an option to extend his contract.

“I think this season will be my last at Vejle. My focus is just to keep them up right now, and of course you never know what the future holds. But I think I’m ready for the next step now,” he said.

“I haven’t really thought about what will happen this summer yet. Of course, my loan agreement expires this summer, and my contract with West Ham also expires, but there is an option in my contract which gives West Ham the opportunity to extend the contract by two years.”

Tipsbladet state that according to Trott, it’s ‘rather a complicated situation’ as West Ham have to first clarify who among the current goalkeepers ‘will be in and out’.

Alphonse Areola has been the first-choice goalkeeper for Moyes this season, with Łukasz Fabiański providing cover.
