Hakan Çalhanoğlu left AC Milan and joined Inter Milan as a free agent last summer.
Prior to joining the Serie A winners, the 28-year-old was linked to Manchester United and reports coming out of Italy had then indicated he had a proposal from the Red Devils.
Having operated as the attacking midfielder for the Rossoneri, he has been mainly used in the middle of the pitch by Simone Inzaghi, where the Turkey international managed six goals and eight assists in 22 league matches this season.
These statistics seem to have drawn attention of other clubs and among them, ‘there is also, and above all, Manchester United’, according to InterLive.it.
Ralf Rangnick is the Manchester club’s interim manager until the end of this campaign and will then start his consultant role from the summer.
The German, who knows the player from his time in the Bundesliga, ‘could be the first to push for the purchase’ of the midfielder in the next window.
It’s said United could offer a fee around €18-20m for Çalhanoğlu, but this will not make the Nerazzurri ‘flinch’ as they are ‘not willing to consider offers below’ €30m.
The feeling from this report is it isn’t strong enough. It remains to be seen whether there will be more reports from England and/or Italy discussing United’s interest in Çalhanoğlu.
