Four days ago, AS reported Bruno Guimarães will leave Newcastle United after this season and dreams of joining Barcelona.
Paris Saint-Germain have been credited with an interest in the midfielder, who made a trip to Paris earlier this week. This was reported by RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins, who says the 26-year-old will be in the French capital for the next few days.
Fresh claims from Brazil have stated Luis Enrique has requested the Ligue 1 winners sign the Newcastle star. This is relayed by Sport, who then give their own take on this case.
Guimarães’ agent Giuliano Bertolucci has been in Paris for more than a week to sort out the deal taking Corinthians’ Gabriel Moscardo to PSG.
It’s quite possible the representative will have talked with PSG about Guimarães, who it’s said won’t wait for the La Liga side. Sport claim the Brazil international wants to leave Newcastle ‘as soon as possible’ because he’s disappointed with their sporting project.
Newcastle CEO Darren Eales has already talked about the possibility of cashing in on their stars and the latest FA action, against Nottingham Forest and Everton, has ‘raised alarm bells’ at the Tyneside club.
Guimarães is keen to leave, say Sport, and they state he ‘can close’ his move to PSG in January, if the latter can agree a deal with the Magpies.
Even if his move doesn’t take shape this month, Barcelona won’t be able sign him next summer as they cannot afford to pay his £100m clause.
Their aim was to use some of their own players as part of the deal but that option seems to be ruled out due to Newcastle’s financial situation.
Of course, this could be sour grapes from Sport, a Catalan newspaper, so they’re making everything sound as dramatic as possible, but pay attention to Giuliano Bertolucci.
The agent is a deal-maker supreme and it’s hard to believe he hasn’t been trying to build a Guimarães whilst in Paris.
