At the weekend, we covered claims from France which stated Stoke City are on the verge of signing SC Bastia’s Lamine Cissé. It was also reported he was set to travel to England on Sunday to carry out medical tests with the Potters.
The 22-year-old hasn’t travelled to the UK until Wednesday if a report from Ouest-France is to be believed.
They explain that he should fly to England late on Wednesday to complete his move to Stoke City in the ‘coming hours’. The transfer is expected to be closed, at the latest, in the next few days.
Cissé graduated from AS Nancy Lorraine’s academy and was promoted to their first team in 2021. He left them as a free agent last summer and made a move to SC Bastia.
Ouest-France reports Nancy will receive an allowance from the player’s sale to Stoke City.
Journalist Marc Mechenoua took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to report that the winger is undergoing medical tests with Stoke City. This indicates he’s already arrived in the UK. If he completes these tests, Cissé will sign a four-year contract with the Championship club.
He adds Mark Robins’ side have agreed to pay €2.5m plus €500,000 bonuses to the Ligue 2 side.
