Eintracht Frankfurt defender Robin Koch has admitted he’s never regretted his move to the club from Leeds two years ago, as it’s given him everything he hoped it would.
Kicker have an interview with the defender today in which he says he has no regrets about leaving Leeds behind.
The German centre-back played for Leeds for three years after joining them in a €13m deal from SC Freiburg in 2020.
He departed following relegation in 2023, though, joining Eintracht on a season-long loan deal that was eventually made permanent the following summer. He’s been a regular and key player for them since his arrival, racking up 85 appearances to date, just two fewer than the 87 he managed for Freiburg, the leading club of his career to date.
As well as establishing him in the Bundesliga the move has helped him to get back into contention with Germany, having been regularly overlooked during his time at Elland Road.
And that’s just one of the major benefits as far as he’s concerned, saying it’s all worked out how he hoped.
“The role I’ve taken on here, the feeling I’ve gained for the club, the fans, and the environment – I could only have hoped for that before I came here,” he said.
“But that has been confirmed so extremely in the last two year. Of course, at a time like this, it’s also about thinking about finances; a football career isn’t that long.
“Nevertheless, I listened to my gut feeling about the team, the club, the staff, the fans, and the environment, just as I’ve done my entire career.”
