Nottingham Forest may have just been handed a transfer boost as Fenerbahçe’s Archie Brown has hinted he’d be interested in a move to the Premier League.

Sport Witness reported at the beginning of the month that Nottingham Forest were continuing to watch the 24-year-old after looking at him during the summer transfer window.

The left back was on their radar during the summer, despite Luca Netz and Nico Williams currently battling for the left back spot in Oliver Glasner’s squad.

Indeed, back in May we reported from Türkiye that the Reds had offered €16m for Brown. The Turkish side rejected that bid, demanding €18m instead. Sunderland then submitted a bid later that month, while Chelsea and Manchester United were also thrown into the picture.

Nottingham Forest interest remains

The feeling was that they were being used to put the pressure on Nottingham Forest. Ultimately Foret didn’t get their man, but their interest hadn’t gone away.

Reports at the beginning of the month made it clear that they were preparing a €15m offer for the full-back.

Fenerbahce, though, are now demanding €30m for their man. It was also made clear that they have no intention of selling in January. Fortunately for Nottingham Forest, though, that doesn’t mean their dream is dead.

Door remains open

In fact, Brown is happy to admit he will move to the Premier League if the right offer comes along.

“The Premier League is the best league in the world,” he said at a press conference.

“I am English, and I always follow developments closely. You never know what might happen in the future if the right club and the right moment come along.”

Whether Nottingham Forest is the right club, at the right moment, remains to be seen. After a disappointing start to the season under Glasner, an offer is not going to be all too enticing at this point.

But things can change quickly, and perhaps when Fenerbahce are ready to sell, Nottingham Forest will be more attractive. At least Brown is leaving the door open.
