Joe Willock has surprisingly been a key player for Newcastle United this season but his future is far from certain.
The Englishman has played five times in the Premier League and found the net in the opening game against Liverpool. He also scored against Hull City at the weekend, showing that he will have a part to play under Matthias Jaissle.
This is in stark contrast to last season, when he would be on the bench often, even if things did change in the last few weeks.
Interest in the versatile midfielder is growing and Turkey could be a destination.
Club still in the picture
Turkish outlet FotoMac take note of Besiktas’ interest in the Arsenal academy graduate, noting that he was a summer target for them. A deal didn’t go through then but the Newcastle United man remains on their shortlist.
Vincenzo Italiano’s side are keen on making a January move and the manager’s opinion is driving a deal forward. The ex-Fiorentina boss admires Willock and is attracted by his ability to play at number eight and number ten.
The outlet notes that the player’s value currently stands at €14m, which is another reason behind their interest.
Their preparations for the move could soon accelerate, with Newcastle United’s stance yet to be ascertained.

Progress needed over renewal
The Magpies sold several key players in the summer and this has allowed Willock the chance to thrive. As his stock has grown, signing him won’t be easy for Besiktas. More than that, Newcastle United would need to sign a replacement.
But Willock’s current deal runs out in 2027 and Besiktas could see that as a good opportunity to land him. That should put the Tyneside club on alert and they need to make progress over a renewal.
If not the Turkish club, he could soon attract interest from others. That is why Jaissle’s side should be keen to hand him a new deal.
