Enzo Le Fee has impressed at Sunderland after a poor spell at AS Roma. Details about his time in Italy are now emerging.
The midfielder signed a new deal with the Black Cats this week, which came as a reward for his progress in England.
Sunderland initially signed the Frenchman on a loan deal from Roma. After they earned promotion to the top-flight, their obligation to buy was triggered and the deal has paid off.
Roma should look back on things with a hint of regret and that is what seems to be happening.

They see his time at Wearside as a period of resurgence. When he joined Roma, it was the Giallorossi’s most complicated period in recent history. The team lacked an identity and there was constant instability too.
Le Fee witnessed three managers in a single stint and there was instability from a sporting direction perspective. Florent Ghisolfi, who identified him, recognised that.
The midfielder was the ‘one who suffered the most’, as he was meant to have a period of adaptation but that never truly came . Because of constant changes, things became all the more complicated but at Sunderland, things are clearly back on track.
Le Bris connection helps
The 26-year-old finds himself in a very supportive environment at Sunderland, especially as he knows Regis Le Bris from his Lorient spell. That connection has helped, which is different from how things were at Roma.
More than that, Florent Ghisolfi was key to bringing him to Roma. Le Fee is lucky his compatriot is also at the Black Cats and that trust would help him a lot.
The new contract also comes at a critical point, as the player is clearly growing in stature. Sunderland would want to avoid losing him in the near future.
