Arnaud Kalimuendo’s status at Nottingham Forest is being closely watched by Eintracht Frankfurt following their summer efforts to sign the striker.
The German side were keen on bringing Kalimuendo back to the club right up until the final day of the transfer window.
He spent last season on loan with them and impressed and they were keen on making the deal permanent, but for the right price. They struggled to find that right price with Nottingham Forest.
Then there was Oliver Glasner. Reports throughout the summer indicated that the Austrian coach was blocking an exit because he wanted to assess his options.
Well, he’s now done that and Kalimuendo doesn’t appear to be in his plans. The opening weeks of the season have been far from ideal for the 24-year-old. He’s manager a total of 61 minutes across two appearances in all competitions.
Frankfurt watching
That has not gone unnoticed back at Frankfurt, say SGE 4 Ever. They explain how Frankfurt were keen in the summer, largely through Board Member for Sport Markus Krösche. He pushed the deal as much as possible, despite resistance from Nottingham Forest.
He’ll be aware of what’s happened since and that Kalimuendo is likely to be unhappy. Afterall he was looking to play regularly and ‘take the next step’. That’s not happening.
Krösche would have to weigh up whether the striker was needed given ‘Jonathan Burkardt and Younes Ebnoutalib have demonstrated that Eintracht is well-served’ when it comes to forward options. The need for a new striker is not as great as it once was.

Loan deal repeated?
But, on the other hand, Kalimuendo offers plenty of bonuses. He is familiar with the club, the Bundesliga and many of the players. He wouldn’t require a lengthy settling in period.
His situation could also make him cheaper. Frankfurt were already willing to spend big, but Nottingham Forest’s position is likely to have changed on that front.
Another loan deal including an option or an obligation could even be on offer. Indeed, that might be an attractive proposition for Frankfurt.
All indications are that they will be watching with interest. Kalimuendo’s lack of playing time has seemingly opened the door to a January transfer revival.
